About the Fold:
A Sergeant is an interesting position. It is the true leader within a military unit, beloved by the people within. There are many stories in folklore about the Sergeant who knew from experience, begrudgingly following orders from officers while commanding the respect of others in a unit. The sergeant is a place of legitimate power, achieved by a career of lessons learned.
This fold resembles the Sergeant’s stripes. It is obviously not strictly made for Sergeants, but it could be perceived as a way of showing solidarity for those who dedicate their life to service. It is also a statement that could be made. While there are many who choose power from their position, the Sergeant leads by trust earned by others.
Symbology aside, this fold showcases distinct chevrons emanating down towards the pocket. It is a series of arrows pointed upwards, but to what? The wearer? A lord? Your national leader? To an ideology?
This fold suits almost any fabric, but is best used with a pocket square that has a unique edge design to accentuate the look. If you choose this fold, you may not be a sergeant. The fold does however mean you’re not in control. You can choose this fold as a symbol of how you earn legitimate power and respect.
